{08.2011 East Coast} Seems like only yesterday...

...we were out east playing shows, making new friends, and finding good-times, so we're all pretty excited to be getting back there this fast!

For the fist half this trip we'll be joining Kurt Vile & the Violators. We've had the chance to play together a few times when he was passing through Dallas in the past and it's always been great! I'm definitely looking forward to making it happen on the road.

Once we get to Baltimore we'll part ways with Kurt and the gang. 

It will be sad but there will be plenty of shows left and lots of friends we've made over the last 3 years like Purling Hiss, Fangs Out, Restorations, Mansion, and our east coast road warriors from a year ago Bad Dream to play them with!

it starting to feel like the day would never get here, 
but now it's just around the corner! 
as a lot of you know the new album will be out the 29th, so needless to say things have been a little hectic around here. Kemado will be offering a few different pre-sale packages with various goodies including a 18x24 signed lithograph (D.H. artwork), exclusive t-shirt (made by the hands of yours truly), demo cassette!, and more. like i said, we've had plenty to do the last month or so. there will be info on all that stuff soon, but right now i just wanted to give everyone a heads up on shows for the month.

East Coast in April

Sooo,

Here's how things are starting to look for April & May!

Since the shows start and end in NY we'll be adding a few dates on our way to and from.  

We're all very excited to be getting back on the road and start playing the new album live! 

The fact that we'll be doing it in the company of one of my all-time favorite TX bands makes it that much sweeter!! I still listen to their 1st two albums on the regular. I honestly don't know that much about Surfer Blood, but I guess there will be plenty of time for that in a few months. We don't have all the details yet, but Trail of Dead & Surfer Blood will be taking turns playing last each night, and we'll be there bright and early for the brave of hearing and the strong of mind. 

There are a few spots we'll be returning to plus visiting several new ones.

Greeting & Salutations!

Guess it's about time to knock the dust off this thing.
Although we haven't been playing many shows over the last few months we've all managed to stay busy. D.H. found time to put together a little art show, and Nikki has been holding down a monthly music trivia night {Quiz of the Stone Age} at our favorite watering hole. As for myself, I tried to spend as much time as possible doing as little as possible.

Most of you have probably heard by now that we found a home {Kemado} for our new record. There is a release date set for late March and we're very excited to be working with them! We drug all the gear out to the Echo Lab again, and had a very different but still great second experience working with Matt Pence out in the Argyle woods!
The recording is mixed and mastered, and we've already had a chance to listen to the vinyl test pressings!!

Speaking of visuals...
About a month ago our friend from Sweden Mats Ek decided it was time to make his first trip to America, and we were fortunate enough to have him choose Texas as his destination. It was just over a year ago when he blind sided us with the video for A.K.A. and we knew then if there was ever a chance to work with him in person we had to take it. He's a great guy and we all really enjoyed having him around! He took a handful of new band photos for us. One of which can be seen at the top of the site.
We also shot a ton of video footage for a song off the new record. He's currently back home cutting everything together and we can't wait to see how it turns out!

NYC and back again

Well we've been back to the normal for a few weeks now and have started to settle into things. Overall the trip was a real blast! We were able to return to a few spots we really enjoyed last year and got to hit some new places that proved to be just as much fun. Thanks to everyone that took part in any shape, form, or fashion. We had a great time with all our old friends and made some incredible new ones!

Playing with Bad Dream from NC to NYC was a trill! If you haven't already you really should checkout the sounds their laying down. RAW AWESOMENESS! Each night was like our own little battle of the bands and they were always obliged to keep us on our toes. We ended up playing some pretty strange places and they held it down like champs. WWMC5D became both our mantras and on a few occasions i almost felt bad for the other band/s on the bill. Once we made it to the Big Apple they were the most gracious of hosts. I love those guys, girl, and Simon, and cannot wait to make it happen again!
It was sad when we had to leave them, but a handful of shows later we found ourselves running around KS with the gang from Mansion. There was a formal syrup gauntlet thrown in Lawrence so we dueled it out all sludge style. Needless to say the show ran long and we were all victorious! They still have yet to record, but believe me when i say it will be worth the wait! It was our pleasure to bring them back to TX. Both the Double Wide & Rubber Gloves shows went off, and if you were there you know i'm talking about. Thanks to all our TX friends that made it out, and a very special thanks to UME for taking part in the weekend! Their new stuff is sounding great and it's always inspiring to see them live.

Overall our travels this year have really been blessed! It amazes me to see how far our sound has spread and that we're able to enjoy it with others all over the country. We've got a few irons in the fire at the moment and look forward to sharing more with you in the not too distant future.
